GERMAN 1:
(3 hours per week for 6 weeks)

This course is designed for students with little or no prior knowledge of German. The course introduces the fundamentals of the German language, including pronunciation. The students will be introduced to the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In this course we will talk about German culture. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to carry on a basic German conversation, as well as read and write sentences using the grammatical structures and the vocabulary learned. The Introduction and Chapter 1 of the textbook will be covered. Students who successfully complete this course should be able to:

  • Pronounce German vowels and the “Umlaute” (ä, ö, ü)
  • Exchange greetings, both formal and informal
  • Ask people who they are

This course is for adult learner, and it builds on the knowledge acquired in German 1. The focus is on expanding students' vocabulary, fluency, and grammar knowledge. This is an intermediate (B1) level course. The goal of this course is to expand students' vocabulary and improve fluency, listening and reading comprehension, and grammatical accuracy in speaking and writing. The level 12 intermediate (B1) curriculum is covered over (four consecutive 6-week German 12 courses). Students who complete the German 12 curriculum should be able to:

  • Talk about time, pastimes, work, career, media, advertisements, consumption, learning experiences and strategies, traffic, mobility, feelings, characteristics, cuisines, recipes, and restaurants.

We offer private German language lessons. Private lessons are $80 per hour for 1 to 4 students. We will schedule lessons based on the availability of the student(s) and teacher. Start dates are flexible. Please register at least 2 weeks before your first lesson.
